  • Integrated Hazard Screening: Each alloying element will be individually screened for hazards, ensuring more granular health impact data.
  • Builder UI Enhancements: Streamlined data entry flow with validation rules specific to alloy classifications and naming conventions.

Benefits:

  • Significantly improves data quality and health transparency for metal products.
  • Supports more accurate project team assessments by showing the metal’s alloying elements in a nested inventory.
  • Aligns with industry standards for metal composition reporting and special conditions.
  1. PFAS Attestation & PFAS Screening Tool

Overview:
Recognizing the urgent regulatory and market demand to address PFAS (Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances), HPD Builder v3.0 integrates two powerful new tools: the PFAS Attestation feature and a PFAS Screening Tool. These additions enable manufacturers to disclose PFAS presence clearly and support efforts toward elimination and substitution.  The goal of this project was to allow manufacturers to report PFAS even below the reporting threshold of an HPD.

Key Features:

  • PFAS Attestation Form:
    • Manufacturers can now declare whether any intentionally added PFAS are present in their products below the reporting threshold.
    • Includes guided fields to describe the type of PFAS used, the function in the product, and any alternative materials explored.
    • Collects supporting documentation, such as lab test results or supplier declarations.
  • PFAS Screening Tool:
    • Integrated into the chemical screening process; identifies known PFAS compounds based on CAS numbers.
    • Cross-referenced with the comprehensive Green Science Policy Institute’s (GSPI) PFAS Class list.
    • Flags any compound that matches the PFAS class with hazard indicators.

Benefits:

  • Provides transparency for designers, owners, and regulators seeking PFAS-free building products.
  • Helps manufacturers get ahead of compliance by identifying and eliminating PFAS risks early.
  • Enhances the credibility and value of HPDs through verified chemical declarations.
