LEED v4 & v 4.1 Credit

A flexible tool for achieving LEED v4 & v4.1 credit

Use of Health Product Declarations (HPDs) is one of the most common and easy ways of gathering documentation for compliance with LEED v4 MRc: Building Product Disclosure and Optimization: Material Ingredients and LEED v4.1 MRc: Building Product Disclosure and Optimization: Material Ingredients. HPDs also contribute to the same credit in LEED v4.1.

HPDs published in the HPD Public Repository under any version can contribute: HPD 1.0, 2.0, 2.1, 2.1.1, 2.2, and the most recently released version, 2.3. Guidance for applying the LEED requirements to each HPD version is available below in both visual and text formats.

HPDs published under version 2.2 and later offer a LEED Pre-Check Indicator to pre-screen HPDs that meet LEED requirements. HPDs passing this Pre-Check can be found using the search filters in the HPD Public Repository. (The LEED Pre-Check has not yet been updated for LEED v4.1.)

LEED project teams, as well as manufacturers, may also want to review the following:

NOTE: The various guidance documents are provided below in the interest of being thorough. However, the fundamental guidance is consistent across all version 2 HPDs. Once you are familiar with the key requirements, it is not difficult to apply them to all HPD versions.

Requirements for using HPD 2.3 to achieve LEED v4 MR credit — Building Product Disclosure and Optimization – Material Ingredients

Requirements for using HPD 2.2 to achieve LEED v4 MR credit — Building Product Disclosure and Optimization – Material Ingredients

Requirements for using HPD 2.1.1 to achieve LEED v4 MR credit — Building Product Disclosure and Optimization – Material Ingredients

Requirements for using HPD 2.1 to achieve LEED v4 MR credit — Building Product Disclosure and Optimization – Material Ingredients

Requirements for using HPD 2.0 to achieve LEED v4 MR credit — Building Product Disclosure and Optimization – Material Ingredients.

Requirements for using HPD 1.0 to achieve LEED v4 MR credit — Building Product Disclosure and Optimization – Material Ingredients

NOTE: All version 1.0 HPDs are expired. They may be used for LEED documentation only if they were valid for the product specified and installed on the project.
