LEEDv5 Material Ingredients Credit – Background and Recommendation Report
HPD Collaborative (HPDC) is pleased to collaborate with USGBC and LEED Material Ingredients programs to recommend updates for the LEED v5 Material Ingredients (MI) credit. This recommendation, developed over six months, aims to enhance transparency reporting and material ingredient optimization. Our background document highlights the progress and challenges of the MI Credit in LEED v4/4.1 and proposes a harmonized, automated scoring system for LEED v5. The new system will simplify documentation, provide clear optimization paths, and encourage greater adoption of material health practices. We look forward to continuing our work with USGBC to implement these recommendations.
