The Material Health Value Proposition.
Today, manufacturers at the forefront of Green Building are providing full transparency about their products’ ingredients, leading to exciting new business opportunities. A rapidly expanding field of green building – Material Health – is now seen as an essential part of leadership in green build projects. Material Health methods empower building product manufacturers and AECO practitioners with easy access to detailed content information about building product materials, with more than 700 manufacturers now using HPDs to provide material transparency data on over 33,000 products.
The HPD Open Standard is a standardized specification for the accurate, reliable, and consistent reporting of product contents and associated health information for products used in the built environment. HPDs are harmonized with programs such as International Living Future Institute, Cradle-to-Cradle Product Innovation Institute, Clean Production Action, BIFMA, LEED, WELL and many others.
Health Product Declaration® (HPD) Collaborative is a not-for-profit, member association with over 330 organizational members, representing the full spectrum of the building industry: architects, designers, building owners, manufacturers, consultants, information systems, researchers and others who all share a common purpose: to improve the transparency of information and material health in buildings and the environment.
