PROVISIONS FOR THE USE AND DISPLAY OF THE HPDC Third Party Verification (TPV) Logos and References to HPDC TPV Program

Introduction

There are two logos available for use in the HPD Collaborative Third Party Verification (TPV) Program:

  • HPDC Approved Verifier Logo
  • HPD Verified Logo

This document will provide guidance for the use of both logos.

1. Use of HPDC Approved Verifier Logo and References to HPDC TPV Program by Verifiers

1.1 The HPDC Approved Verifier Logo (ALogo) is authorized for use to those verifiers who have been accepted into the HPDC TPV Program as an Approved Verifier, and remain in good-standing with the program. The use of the ALogo is not otherwise permitted.  In the event that a verifier is no longer in good-standing in the program, any use of the ALogo must be removed immediately and no future use is permitted unless/until good-standing is restored.

1.2 The Approved Verifier Logo may be displayed on the verifiers website, or on other promotional materials, subject to the following provisions:

1.2.1 The ALogo may not be used in any manner a) not associated with the verifier’s activities as part of the TPV Program, b) in conflict with the goals of the TPV Program or the mission of HPDC.

1.2.2 The written material or website must contain a reference to the HPDC TPV Program website [link], in a footnote or other notation available to the user of the material or website.

1.2.3 The relative dimensions and colors in the ALogo, as provided, must be maintained. The ALogo, or reference to the TPV Program, should never appear more prominently than the reference to the verifier’s organization.

1.3.4 Do not use the ALogo or reference the TPV program approval on company stationery, business cards or signs, or within Internet domain names or company names. Use of these references on such materials could incorrectly imply more than a third-party authorization or relationship between verifier and HPDC, or incorrectly imply that HPDs verified by you have been authorized or approved by HPDC.

1.3 Use of the ALogo is non-mandatory.

1.4 Verifier may reference acceptance into the HPDC TPV Program only with the phrase, “[Organization Name] is an Approved Verifier participant in the HPD Collaborative Third Party Verification Program.” No other written representation is permitted.

1.5 HPDC does not “certify,” “rate,” or “endorse” the verifier’s organization, activities or the results of the TPV process performed by the verifiers. Verifier should not make any such reference when using the ALogo.

1.6 Do not state a link between TPV Approved Verifier participation and any other organization.

2. Use of HPD Verified Logo and References to HPDC TPV Program by Clients of Verifiers

2.1 The HPD Verified Logo (VLogo) is provided to verifiers to distribute to their clients for use in conjunction with client HPDs that have been verified by the verifier. No other use of the VLogo is permitted.

2.2 The verifier is responsible for distributing the Verified Logo (VLogo) to their clients and ensuring that they understand these guidelines.  Verifiers are also expected to monitor logo usage on at least an annual basis and report any inconsistencies to the HPDC.

2.3 The HPD Verified Logo may be used only on individual products for which a Verified HPD is valid. It may not be used in conjunction with other client products.

2.4 In the event that the verification of the client HPD is revoked, it is the responsibility of the verifier to notify the client that the use of the VLogo is no longer permitted, and must be removed immediately from all existing use and distribution.

2.5 In the event of changes to the TPV program that affect VLogo usage, it is the responsibility of the verifier to notify clients of such changes.

2.6 The permitted use of the VLogo is restricted to printed material accompanying the product or other acceptable written uses, such as a website. The VLogo may not be reproduced on the product itself or physical packaging of the product. The phrase “The HPD for this product has been verified under HPD Open Standard version [proper version] by an Approved Verifier under the HPDC Third Party Verification Program” may be used in addition to, or in lieu of the VLogo.  The use of this phrase much conform with the relevant guidelines in this section.  No other phrase may be used to indicate that an HPD has been verified.

2.6.1 The VLogo may not be used in any manner a) not associated with the client’s verified HPD, b) in conflict with the goals of the TPV Program or the mission of HPDC.

2.6.2 The written material or website must contain a reference to the HPDC TPV Program website [link], in a footnote or other notation available to the user of the material or website.

2.6.3 The relative dimensions and colors in the VLogo, as provided, must be maintained. The VLogo, or reference to the TPV Program, should never appear more prominently than the reference to the client’s organization.

2.6.4 If some products appearing in a website, brochure, ad or catalog are authorized to display the VLogo but others are not, the client must ensure the wording and placement of the VLogo and any references to TPV verification make it clear which products in fact have verified HPDs and which do not.

2.6.5 Use of the VLogo in general advertising or promotional material to suggest that non-verified products have been verified is not permitted.

2.7 General statements such as “we make HPD verified products” or similar are not permitted in any printed or web-based materials.

2. 8 The VLogo or reference the TPV Program may not appear on client company stationery, business cards or signs, or within Internet domain names or company names. Use of these references on such materials could incorrectly imply more than a third-party authorization or relationship between verifier, client and HPDC, or incorrectly imply that the client’s verified HPDs, and/or client’s products, have been authorized or approved by HPDC.

2.9 HPDC does not “certify,” “rate,” or “endorse” the verifier’s organization, activities or the results of the TPV process performed by the verifiers, or the client HPDs or the underlying products verified by the verifier. Client should not make any such reference when using the VLogo.

2.10 Do not state a link between a product having a Verified HPD and any other program or organization.
