Making the Basics Work Better – Streamlining Reporting Ingredients and Screening for Material Health in Building Products.

Our HPDC team – Milla, Hal, Paula and Wendy – have arrived in San Francisco for Greenbuild 2022 – and we are excited to be here!

I am very pleased to say that we will have several announcements here at Greenbuild that take important next steps to make the basics of material health work better: with USGBC, Green Seal and the HPDC Program Pre-check Pilot. Be sure to attend our HPDC Annual Member Meeting – either in person or by zoom – for a preview of these exciting developments that will make material health reporting and screening more cost-effective and easier for manufacturers and project design teams.

We look forward to seeing those of you who are here in person at our HPDC booth – #1758 – on the Greenbuild Expo floor, where you can learn more about these new capabilities and all HPDC offers to help you take the next steps in your material health practice. We are here to support you!

You still have time to submit the story of your organization’s material health innovation for our Material Health Open Innovation Symposium, on November 15. We are extending the deadline for case study submittals to November 7. Case studies show how your team took the next step towards better material health of products and building projects. The four most outstanding case studies will be selected for presentation at the Symposium and receive our “Material Health Innovation Award.”

Thank you for your hard work to make the practice of material health a reality in the building industry!

All the best – Wendy

Wendy Vittori, HPDC, Executive Director

2022 Material Health Innovation Awards–Submit Your Product or Project Innovation by November 7, 2022.

Time is running out! Building Design Teams and Manufacturers are invited to share their organizations’ breakthrough Material Health innovations with colleagues during the Symposium by November 4. Four case study presentations (two from project teams and two from product manufacturers) will be selected to receive the new, Material Health Innovation Presentation award. Selections will be for those case studies that best demonstrate performance and results at the “leading edge” of Material Health innovation.

Each of these case studies will be highlighted during the Symposium with a 15-minute presentation by the authors. All submissions that meet the entry requirements will be recognized with the Material Health Innovation Honorable Mention award, and will be included in the Symposium proceedings. All accepted case studies will also be featured on the HPDC website.

You can view all materials from last year’s symposium here.

The form is quick and easy to complete! The deadline to submit has been extended to November 7, 2022, 5 PM Pacific Time.

GREENBUILD ATTENDEES: Learn How HPDC and USGBC Are Simplifying Material Ingredient Reporting for LEED.

HPDs published meeting the LEED v4.1 Option 1 Pre-check will now be automatically accepted for LEED project documentation. This new capability brings clarity and certainty to the LEED Material Ingredients credit qualifications for both manufacturers and project teams. Manufacturers can pre-check their HPDs for LEED using the expanded Program Pre-check features available in the current, v2.3 HPD Builder, which provides criteria-specific feedback on compliance. Qualification for GBCI-approved will be automatically designated when the HPD is published to the HPD Public Repository. For project teams, a clear GBCI-approved designation will be visible on the HPD report and searchable in the Repository, both through the native Repository user interface and through output to Repository API partners.

To learn more, please join our information session on Wednesday, November 2nd from 3-4 PM at HPDC’s Greenbuild booth #1758.
